Connecting your domain is the final step to making your website accessible to the public using your own custom address.
Before You Begin
- Access to your domain registrar’s control panel (e.g., GoDaddy, Namecheap, Google Domains).
- An active Websitely site instance.
Connecting your Domain
- Sign in to your Websitely Dashboard.
- Navigate to Site Settings > Domains.
- Click Add Domain.
- Enter your domain name and click Verify.
- You will be provided with specific DNS records (A record or CNAME).
- Log in to your domain registrar, navigate to your DNS management page, and add the provided records.
- Click Verify in the Websitely Dashboard once the DNS propagation begins.
Best Practices
- Use an A record for your root domain (e.g.,
yourdomain.com). - Use a CNAME record for your
wwwsubdomain. - Ensure there are no conflicting DNS records pointing to old hosting providers.
