Connecting your domain is the final step to making your website accessible to the public using your own custom address.

Before You Begin

  • Access to your domain registrar’s control panel (e.g., GoDaddy, Namecheap, Google Domains).
  • An active Websitely site instance.

Connecting your Domain

  1. Sign in to your Websitely Dashboard.
  2. Navigate to Site Settings > Domains.
  3. Click Add Domain.
  4. Enter your domain name and click Verify.
  5. You will be provided with specific DNS records (A record or CNAME).
  6. Log in to your domain registrar, navigate to your DNS management page, and add the provided records.
  7. Click Verify in the Websitely Dashboard once the DNS propagation begins.

Best Practices

  • Use an A record for your root domain (e.g., yourdomain.com).
  • Use a CNAME record for your www subdomain.
  • Ensure there are no conflicting DNS records pointing to old hosting providers.
